Sosu’s 1st Annual Planting Day with CHAA

Come Farm with us this Mother's Day!

This year, we are working with 4 local farmers in the San Francisco bay area to grow collectively over 140,000 lbs of fresh tomatoes and chili peppers for our sauces. That’s a lot of produce and sauce!

On a smaller scale, we are growing our own test garden of tomatoes and chili peppers at the Gardens at Lake Merritt in Oakland with our friends at CHAA (Community Health for Asian Americans). The small plot will be a place to garden, share techniques, learnings about growing tomatoes and chili peppers.

Varieties of tomatoes we will be growing this year include Sun Golds, Golden Jubilees, Early Girl, Dirty Girl, Purple Cherokee, and others along with peppers!

So come join us as we do some gardening this upcoming Sunday! As a farmer on planting day, you will reap the harvest at our harvest party later this summer when the tomatoes and chili peppers are ready to be sampled and eaten!

It’s a casual, low-key event. Come relax with us as we get our hands dirty in soil and plant those tomatoes and peppers!

Date & Time: Sunday, May 11th from 10am – 12pm

Location: The Gardens at Lake Merritt  (666 Bellevue Ave., Oakland) – look for a plot called Cambodian People Garden or call 415-676-9712 if you get lost! http://gardensatlakemerritt.org/map/

(We are doing a group sharing lunch. Bring your lunch to share if you like to taste what others’ are bringing!)
